High-Density Production in Restricted Spaces
Location: Columbus, Ohio | Client: Midwest Nutrition & Supplements
THE MULTILANE EDGE: TRIPLING OUTPUT WITHOUT EXPANDING THE FOOTPRINT
The Manufacturing Crisis
Midwest Nutrition & Supplements, a leading provider of high-end energy gel and protein powder sachets, hit a “production wall.” Their single-lane stick pack machines were too slow to meet the volume demands of major US retailers like Costco and Walmart. However, their Columbus facility was physically constrained—there was no room for a longer conveyor or additional standalone units. To scale up, they needed a solution that offered vertical density over horizontal length.
The Azomak Engineering Intervention
Azomak engineers implemented a Heavy-Duty 10-Lane Multilane Sachet Packing System. This machine performs the work of five traditional machines in the footprint of one.
-
Synchronized Precision: We engineered a central dosing system that ensures each of the 10 lanes fills with ±1% accuracy, a critical requirement for US nutritional supplement labeling compliance.
-
Film Tension Control: US-sourced packaging films can vary in thickness. We integrated a servo-driven film unwinding system that maintains constant tension, preventing “film drift” and ensuring every sachet seal is airtight and visually perfect.
Direct Client-Engineer Dialogue
Facility Manager: “We’re terrified of downtime. If one lane goes down, does the whole machine stop?”
Azomak Lead Engineer: “We’ve designed ‘Modular Lane Isolation.’ If there’s an issue with lane #4, you can bypass it through the HMI (Touchscreen) and keep the other 9 lanes running at full capacity until your scheduled break. It’s built for 24/7 reliability.”
Post-Install Feedback: “We went from 60 sachets per minute to over 400. We didn’t have to break a single brick in our warehouse. The ROI on our floor space just became the best in the industry.”
